Nice Work, TPG!

I’d just like to take a moment to congratulate TPG/Vodafone on the quality of their network coverage map. I’m especially a fan of the way your coverage area forms an exact copy of the coastline, but isn’t actually aligned with the coastline on the south and west coasts.

It’s a real pity that there isn’t any coverage at all on Kangaroo Island, but there totally is coverage on investigator strait, between Kangaroo Island and Yorke Peninsula.

And I feel like the people in Denham and Monkey Mia might use 4G coverage more than the dolphins in Shark Bay, but then again I don’t run a billion dollar telco, so what do I know?

Screenshot of TPG/Vofafone coverage map. There is a visible gap between the coverage area and the edge of the continent, particularly evident in the south and west, indicative of an error scaling the dataset to fit the map correctly. Due to massive incompetence.

On a positive note, I do have to give them this: at least the quality of their web dev is consistent with the quality of their network, i.e: Run by incompetent fucks who couldn’t give a shit – at least you’re consistent in your George-Bush-inspired management of both network and website.

I think my favourite thing about all this is that all it would have taken for this to not make it onto production was someone actually, you know, looking at their work.
