And it’s a rough week for trekkies – today I’ve just heard that we’ve lost Jean-Luc, too. Perhaps the most english frenchman ever. And also Charles Xavier. I was just telling a friend the other day that back in the 90s before the x-men movies existed, my pick for Charles Xavier was Patrick Stewart.
(I still maintain that my pick of Mel Gibson to play wolverine would have been awesome).
I’m just glad that Patrick Stewart never came back and did a terrible sequel series that directly attacked and contradicted the core ideals of everything Star Trek stood for. That would have been embarrassing and terrible. It would have been nice to see more Trek made after 2005 but sadly it was not to be.
Anyway, he was amazing as Picard. And pretty great as professor X. RIP.
